Placing Ideas

Blogging about the Nine Emperor Gods Festival here was an inspiring start for me at building a community of like-minded photographers and culture buffs. So inspiring, in fact, that I’m ready to start sharing perceptions and photos within the realm of Connecting on Culture.

I have been obsessed of late by the idea of establishing a Center for Cultural Photography in Southeast Asia – a place that brings together people from all over the world, those who want to understand more about where they are and how to photograph it. It’s my offering to the community. Until right now, it’s been a spirit idea of mine, without a physical presence, but I am encouraged. I see this blog as the Center’s first home. I do not mean for this to be an exclusive, all-about-me-and-my-adventures type of blog, although it can start there with the hope that it interests a few of you and encourages you to join in. Let’s share a lot of links, a lot of photos, a lot of stories. And let’s meet and share photography experiences.

Special thanks to my friends who have added encouragement, and to all those who respect my passions and help me work through the inevitable trepidations. Consider the bottle of champagne popped and promptly consumed and the Center for Cultural Photography officially and virtually launched!
